Using Padlet as a teaching tool
The impact on lesson planning
• Offered me flexibility during sessions
• Enabled me to easily gather a variety resources together
• Enabled me to differentiate during sessions and in setting homework (must do, should do, could do)
• Observation of my practice: graded 1
Barriers and disadvantages
It crashes when using Internet Explorer!• It is difficult to use with iPad app
• You need consistent internet connection
• It loses sharpness on a big screen
• Some students found it visually ‘messy’
• Some students are completely resistant!

• Observation of my practice: graded 1
- All the homework and additional resources are located with the session
- Post the Padlet link on Blackboard
- Students can ‘remake’ (copy) and add their own resources

Using Padlet in lesson planning
There are a different ways of using Padlet in lesson planning. In addition to expending Padlet as a tool for a learner activity, also can be used as a brainstorming tool to develop your own lesson plan ideas and share activities all learners together, inviting other instructors to work together and share opinions and resources. It can also be used as a secondary tool by incorporating into another web-based learner task to use as a space for research collection (see my webquest activity).
Lesson Planning

It is a valuable means of exchangeable resources and inspiration for individual and group use, and it's a good technique of visually following your ideas progression. You can also make your Padlet public and invite input / response from other tutors. My lesson plan on using the essay plan, including the Padlet activity " “my remarkable wall”. The Padlet features of the lesson are highlighted in grey.
Learner Aims
To write an essay, you should follow essay plan ideas, including the use of introduction, body and conclusion.
Following from teacher`s input on the essay plan, the Padlet activity permits free practice of this in a topic that learners have a individual, authentic concern in it. Illustrations assist in sustaining learner’s commitment, and peer feedback is required for inter-learner backing and motivation, as well as peer rectification for extra rehearsal. This task can be followed up with writing preparation, as per the lesson plan.
“Social networking, which is demonstrated through the collaborative use of an online tool such as Padlet, "can strengthen social relationships, and there appear to be positive psychological benefits, including enhanced well-being and self-esteem". All of these factors contribute towards a more motivated and engaged learner, Stanley (2015, p25)”.
